At a certain concentration, the ethylene oxide molecules reach dynamic equilibrium between the gas and liquid phases. The concentration of ethane in the gas phase is directly proportional to its concentration in the liquid phase. The concentration of ethylene oxide in the gas phase is measured by a gas chromatography instrumentation to determine the residual amount of ethylene oxide in the mask.
